Meet Guest Contributor Melanie Ceraso of Souldanse!

Posted by Julie or Chris Jackson on

I'm so happy to introduce you to Melanie Ceraso, she has been a part of the Subversive Cross Stitch family for years--generously donating her time to help me in early iterations of the website. I was overwhelmed and underfunded and I couldn't have done it without her! So I was really glad she agreed to be a contributor. Her version of "Not My Circus" has something a little extra re: clowns that made me LOL!

Here's Melanie to introduce herself:

Souldanse: About Melanie

Hey! I’m Melanie (she/her), the artist behind Souldanse.

I remember my Mom teaching me cross-stitch back when I was in third grade
(pretty sure I still have a few unfinished projects laying around). This medium sat
dormant for me until I stumbled upon one of Julie’s books on my local Barnes &
Noble shelves and I was immediately captivated and found a new outlet for my
mutually snarky personality.

Inspired by Stella Adler’s quote, “Life beats down and crushes the soul and art
reminds you that you have one,” Souldanse was a personal site I started in 1998
for my personal blogging, web design consulting, personal artwork and now it is
the home where I share my personal creations that include, cross-stitch patterns, 3D printed hoop backs and skulls, along with small-batch candles and soap.

I live and work in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, with a sassy Belgium Malinois and a
stoically wise tortoise. New projects are always in the works and I would love you to follow along through my Instagram or Facebook.

Keep using your super powers for good, friends!
