Meet Hannah of Heretic Designs!

Posted by Julie or Chris Jackson on

I'm excited to say we've added Heretic Designs as an official guest contributor and I'm finally introducing her! Here's Hannah in her own words--be sure to click here to see new designs as we add them. My name is Hannah Lewis, and I’m the owner and designer behind Heretic Designs, where I create fun, empowering, and one-of-a-kind cross stitch patterns. I first learned to cross stitch in elementary school when my mom taught me, and I was instantly hooked. Although I’ve loved stitching for as long as I can remember, I didn’t begin designing my own patterns until a few...

Big Collaboration with Mary Bruno of Bruno Press!

Posted by Julie or Chris Jackson on

This collaboration started when I saw a letterpress poster by Mary Bruno (Bruno Press) inspired by one of my cross stitch designs—printed partly with LEGOS, no less. I reached out, we talked, and instantly realized we share the same creative energy. The result is this large cross stitch kit I designed (beautifully stitched by Mr. Stevers) and a set of true letterpress holiday cards Mary printed using my artwork. And a new pal! Look for lots of videos on social media!

Living in...

"Witchy Stitching: 25 Patterns to Haunt Your Home" by Meg Black

Posted by Julie or Chris Jackson on

This review was written by Mr. Stevers—he is an enormous fan of Meg’s so he dug right into the book! Pick up the book through Meg's site. “Witchy Stitching” is a book that covers cross stitching start to finish and is good for the first timers as well as the experienced stitchers.  Author Meg Black has included not only the how-to basics but also a section on “Being Extra” which goes over the use of beads, antiquing your fabric and various customizations (which this stitcher is inspired to try in the near future!)  This volume is chock full of stunning photographs...

Meet Chantelle of OddlySpecificXStitch

Posted by Julie or Chris Jackson on

I kept seeing this design on Instagram, and one day, it hit me that this person needed to join our team. Luckily, she agreed--meet guest contributor Chantelle Daigle of OddlySpecificXStitch! We have created a kit of this design, though the colors are slightly different as they're in our palette--see more on the kit page. Chantelle is a Registered Nurse by day and a cross-stitcher by night. She lives in Canada with her partner, two kids, and a little dog named Bean. She’s obsessed with pop culture, kitsch, dead malls, video stores, and any vintage collectables. As for cross stitch, she...
