Big News!
It’s HERE! We’ve been working so hard on this book and I’m thrilled to finally get to share it with you! It comes out in April, but you can pre-order on our site or Amazon. If you’d like to give it as a gift, we have some cool gift cards – just ask and we can send you one to give as a “pre” gift. The gift of delayed gratification, right? There are 40 coloring pages and activities that are hilariously subversive. The illustrator is a long-time favorite of mine, the awesome Chris Piascik. I really think you’ll enjoy it. More info on the book page here.

Pre-Order the New Book!
I am SO excited to finally get to tell you more about my second book of Subversive Cross Stitch! You can pre-order a copy here on our site and we can even send a special little gift card to the recipient before the holidays if it’s a gift.
Here’s the deal: the official release date is February 24, 2015, but I will have copies here to sign and ship in early February. So I thought I’d pre-sell in case you want to make it a holiday gift for someone (I mean, you can order one for yourself as well of course!). The cards are really cute–not here yet but I’ll post an image on the book page when they arrive.
This book includes all the patterns from my first book, which is out of print and I know some of you have been trying to find one. So I included everything from the first, plus added enough new patterns to make it a book of FIFTY total patterns. I redesigned all of the charts to make them easier to read and also added stitch counts for each chart. Plus, there are three alphabet charts, a DIY grid and a photo of my mom in space!
I’m really excited about it–I’ve waited four years to work with the publisher, powerHouse books, because they do beautiful work and I wanted to do a book with a company that doesn’t usually do craft books. They mostly do art and photography books.
I will have my copy in mid-December and you can bet I’ll share more images then. In the meantime, stay tuned for more details and pre-order on our site for earliest delivery. Thank you for your support and excitement, I really hope you love it!

Working on new kit designs!
It’s been a VERY trying time since October in my personal life, with several sudden losses including my dad in January, some illness, the loss of our best kitty (Boone from Kitty Wigs) and adjusting to having my mom two miles away in Assisted Living (which is super delightful but diverts my attention from YOU).
Things seem to be settling down, so I’m finally designing some new kits for you! I forgot how much I love to do this. If you’d like a sneak peek at the process, follow me on Instagram where you’ll see who the true mastermind is behind Subversive Cross Stitch — Paducah!

Photos by our dear friend Jill Johnson, who was the photographer for our Kitty Wigs book. Remember that? Still available, makes a great gift!
Kit Packaging Update
For our tenth anniversary, you may have noticed the kits have been redesigned a bit. I’ve updated the look with some snazzy fonts and changed the packaging. The paper envelopes I’ve always used are not only hard to print, but they just don’t wear well, especially in shops and at craft fairs. Although I love them, I think I came up with a better solution after giving it a lot of thought.
So I’m using poly bags–but not just any poly bags: ours are made from plants, compostable and biodegradable; they contain a minimum of 60% post industrial recycled material. So, they’re not hate-able. Plus they’re resealable, so you can keep your kit together in one place as you work on it.
Everything else is the same: both kits still have a full-color pattern, instructions, thread and material. The Deluxe Kit also includes a wooden hoop and two needles. The material is 14-count silver-grade white Charles Craft, which I have professionally die-cut with zig-zag edges to prevent messy fraying. The thread is DMC six-strand cotton (so you can easily find the colors at any craft store) and the needles are size 24 tapestry.
Let me know what you think of the new look! I think it’s pretty cool and I hope you do, too!
Cart, Checkout, Promo Codes & Accounts
I thought I’d clarify a few quick things to help you become accustomed to all this new stuff:
When you have added items to your cart and are ready to check out, you will be taken to Paypal to log in first. Then you’ll come back to our checkout page.
THAT is when you’ll have the option to enter a promo code and also create an account if you’d like to.
As you finalize your transaction, you’ll see a space to enter a promo code if you have one. I’ll issue promo codes for sales now and then, so stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter, and this here blog!
Also, you will see the option to check out as a guest or create an account. Creating an account will allow easy log-in for future visits, you can check on past orders and you won’t have to enter a shipping address every time.
If you’d like to create an account, simply designate a password on the Thank You page after you place your first order. Please note that the phone number field is optional–I really don’t need your phone number.
Hope this makes sense. Please remember you can ALWAYS drop me an email any time you have an issue with any of these new features! That’s what I’m here for!
