New 2019 designs available as kits, PDFs and Kit/Frame Combos! Be sure to check out the HOLIDAYS page for all the holiday designs. Imagine the look on their face Christmas morning!
Working with Fred is a such a dream I never would’ve even dared to dream–check out these AMAZING set of Subversive sponges they created! My mind is completely blown. They’re one of my very favorite brands, they make the coolest stuff!
The quality of these are SO nice, of course, because Fred is the best! There’s a plastic GOLD frame (!) and the designs are actually STITCHED on each sponge! You get the frame and four sponges in a box, plus some suction cups if you want to put it on the edge of your sink, or on tile. Also, the frame has a little thing in the back that pulls out if you’d rather just set it on your counter. It’s the perfect way to display your cleverness between chores. And it kinda makes doing dishes fun again!
Get yours here, and stay tuned because we’ve got more Fred projects in the pipeline! Whoo-hoo!
UPDATE 2020: We no longer have this pattern on our site, but you can find it HERE!
I saw these on Instagram and thought it was SO CLEVER! So I worked with the creator to bring it to you as a PDF that includes all 16 of these rockin’ cocks! Here’s Lauren’s story of how these came to be the hit of a hen party (bachelorette party), direct from Cornwall!:
The original series was made as a surprise for my sister Helen’s hen party which I was organising with my other sister, Hope. The details of the hen party were a surprise, but Helen had requested no dick head boppers, inflatable men or cock drinking straws. So I stitched the original ‘cocks of joy’ series of badges using rooster patterns I had found on Pinterest, a range of cross stitch books or adapted those original patterns and then added the word cock underneath them because I thought it would make Helen laugh. I’d stitched a box full of cocks and each hen chose their little gift at random by lucky dip. When Julie reposted about the badges and showed interest in charting the designs I then extended the flock by developing my own cocks patterns.
In Cornish dialect calling someone a cock is actually a term of endearment, in case you were wondering. ‘Tuss’ is the word for an actual dick.
Other than that I Love: watching British comedies and Bob Ross reruns; I’m currently doing a children’s story book writing course; everything about Stevie Wonder; being a Mumma to my little boy; cooking Algerian foods (my husband is Algerian); spending hours in haberdasheries and thrift shops; and visiting Cornish beaches with family and friends whenever possible!
So, go stitch up some cocks and use the hashtag #SUBVERSIVECROSSSTITCHCOCKFLOCK to share your work! Follow Lauren on Instagram at @rock_of_floosters to see more of her work (and her insanely cute bebeh!) Thanks, Lauren!!
I REALLY hope you’re near Dallas, because we’re getting our CLASS act together! Derp!
Seriously, though, our gal Nikki will be teaching a couple of classes at the very cool Pipe & Palette in the downtown Plano Arts District. Plus, we’ll have wine and some cake balls from Amazeballz (which is right down the street in case you need more after class).
The first class will be on Saturday, March 16th from 2:00-4:00, so sign up and get ready for some fun! You’ll get a Deluxe Kit, some tiny scissor snips, some cool swag we’re having made just for class attendees, and an official membership card to Subversive Stitch Club! We’re calling it that and then we’re expanding on that idea — there will be more phases, including an online community for members only. SO stay tuned!
p.s. Pipe & Palette also offers private classes in case you want to arrange your own event with Nikki to have a class with just your besties.
Subversive stitcher Pauline Winick presented this modified version of our Fuck Aunt Lydia design to THE Margaret Atwood at an event! Pauline was disappointed she didn’t get a photo of Ms. Atwood with the piece, but she left without opening it. I was looking around Twitter the other day (I’m terrible at keeping up with it) and saw that Ms. Atwood herself had posted this! WOW!! If you haven’t seen Ann Dowd’s portrayal of Aunt Lydia on Hulu’s brilliant adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, she’s deliciously despicable.
I’m sharing this touching email from you, with Melissa’s permission, because it stopped me in my tracks. xoxo
My name is Melissa and I live in Utah. I am 41 years old with an overabundance of serious chronic health problems.
I am going into hospice in about a month. My friends wanted some pictures of me before I entered hospice. I asked for “prop” ideas of what they will remember of me. Several friends said cross stitching…. So the attached is what I chose to use.
I thought you’d like to know that your cross stitch patterns etc are my favorite ones.
Thank you for bringing a smile to my face as I make my cross stitch gifts.
Last year, HotelTonight ran an ad campaign with several cross stitch pieces in hoops that everyone loved! I couldn’t believe these pieces were created by a very talented graphic artist in San Francisco, I’ve never seen anyone do this so well – and I’ve sure seen a lot of people try.
This year, HotelTonight asked me to create PDF patterns from three of their favorite ads from the campaign–it was pretty fun to do something completely in reverse from how I usually do it. I’m hosting these three patterns on my site on behalf of HotelTonight and they’re all FREE! Pretty cool, huh?
Consider these a little hint that your holiday guests (or you!) might be more comfortable in a hotel this season. HotelTonight’s app makes booking a room fun–not complicated!
This project is in partnership with HotelTonight.
It’s #GivingTuesday and we’re giving an unprecedented 50% of our profits of all sales between now and 9:00 pm CST to Feeding America.
I’m cutting it off before midnight because I want to get our donation in early to make sure it’s MATCHED! I chose this charity because it’s close to my heart and gets excellent ratings on Charity Navigator – every dollar really makes a difference. With matching, every dollar equals TWENTY meals! Here’s some more info:
Feeding America is the nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States. Together, we provide food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people we serve; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry. Individuals, charities, businesses and government all have a role in ending hunger. Donate. Volunteer. Advocate. Educate. Together we can solve hunger.
You can also give directly through their site today to have your own donation matched dollar for dollar.
Thank you for helping us making a difference!
“Im VERY OFFENDED by you and other business people that think it’s acceptable and evidently humorous/funny to sell/list items that include absurdities (namely the F-bomb)! There’s absolutely no reason for your bad taste and ignorance by agreeing to sell this garbage!
It’s too bad you can’t find something more tasteful than the trash you are including in your current inventory. You’ll never succeed including this trash in your inventory!
And we wonder why are country is in such a mess!
I don’t get much hate mail, but when I do it’s pretty awesome. Like this one from CAROL.
I think everyone has a Carol in their lives and what can you do but say BLESS YOUR HEART and have a little giggle at Carol’s use of the word “absurdities” (I think she means “obscenities”) and the hilarity of how I am what’s wrong with “are” country! (reminds me of my Bad Grammar series)
I posted this on Instagram and the response was HUGE, so I thought you might want to see it in case you missed it. Also, it’s the reason for the promo code this Black Friday weekend: FFSCAROL – use until midnight Sunday November 25, 2018 for 20% off everything on the KITS and HOLIDAYS pages. And don’t let the Carols get you down!
The new Mouliné Étoile floss from DMC takes away the frustration of metallic floss by combining cotton and metallic in one! The 6-strand divisible thread has a twinkly effect that adds a delicate sparkle to any design.
It’s impossible to capture the true sparkle of this floss, it’s so much more impressive in person. Dang it. DMC added fake sparkle effects to photos on their site, but I’m not going to do that here. Just zoom in on the photos and, trust me, objects on website appear MUCH twinklier in person! 😉
I experimented with several colors of this new line until I found my favorites and packaged them together for you. Check out the starter pack of 5 colors and crank up your holiday projects!
